Delirium Tremens, a Belgian golden—“This has been my favorite for a while now. It’s 8.5 percent ABV, but you don’t taste it. I can drink two and I’ve got a real good buzz going, and I’ll feel fine the next morning.”
Ballast Point Sculpin IPA—“It’s phenomenal. Sculpin is one of those IPAs that’s real in your face, but you still get that citrus-y, natural taste. It also has a nice finish, like a hint of that peach taste to it, which is nice.”
Wells Banana Bread, a fruit beer—“I think people are interested to know what it actually tastes like. It’s not a strong, artificial banana taste. It goes back and forth between that banana bread taste to a beer taste; it flip-flops back and forth.”
Brooklyn Brewery Brown Ale, an American brown ale—“You can drink this all day. You don’t feel super-bloated; there’s not a heavy bite to it.”
Timmermans Strawberry Lambic—“Very creamy, very different. Most beer drinkers that know their lambics will say their only thing against this is they feel it’s not like a true lambic. But it’s got such a good taste, and we also wanted women to get a beer here. Interestingly enough, the majority of people who order this one are men.” Garcia suggests combining it with Guinness, which he also has on tap. “It tastes like a chocolate-covered strawberry.”
